I'd rather be boating

The weather has been absolutely beautiful for the past two weekends.  I'm lucky enough to know people with boats (and have friends who know people who have boats)...so I've been out on the water a lot lately.

Here are some pictures taken with my favorite new iPhone app, Camera +

Oh The Places You'll Go: New York City

I mentioned in my last post that I took a little trip to New York to clear my head. I took this trip three weeks ago, while my brother was still living in Brooklyn (he's since moved back to the West Coast).  Despite the drama that was going on in both of our lives, we had a really nice time bopping around the city. The weather was cold...not bitterly cold, but chilly at night and mild during the day. We saw an Off -Broadway show, did a lot of walking and shopping, went out to some trendy parties and stayed out till all hours of the night sipping cocktails and dancing.  My favorite day was when I ventured out on my own and spent a couple of hours wandering through Chelsea Market.

I took some time off

I took some time off from blogging; you may have noticed that I haven't posted anything new over the past couple of months. I've been going through a transitional period in my life, and it has been really difficult.
Chris and I decided to end our relationship and it's been a very emotionally draining process for both of us. After building a home and a life together and having his kids be such a huge part of my life, seperating has been tough...but when it comes down to it, I think it is for the best.

I read a quote the other day written by, of all people, Marilyn Monroe:
"...Sometimes good things fall apart, so better things can fall together."

That's what's keeping me going at the moment; the belief that there are good things out there for me.

So today, on Valentine's Day, I celebrate the love and respect that will always remain between me and Chris, the love I have for his kids, the love and support I have for, and have received from friends and family and the love I have for myself.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

It's hard to believe that Christmas is right around the corner....only 11 days away!

We got our Christmas tree over the weekend and decorated it on Monday night.  The presents have already started piling up and the smell of Christmas is in the air.

We also have an new furry addition to our family.....more on that soon!

Speak correctly please

I'm quite a tolerant person, but there are a few things that really get under my skin.  One of those things is when people speak badly.  I realize that's somewhat of a blanket statement...but it covers everything from bad grammar, to saying words incorrectly, to using words like the 'f-word' so frequently that it loses all of it's power.
Some examples:

 "Look it"

6 year old: "Hey Jessica, look it!"
Me: "What does that even mean?"
*Six year old shoves toy in front of my face*

This drives me crazy!  It's "Jessica, look at this!"

Drawling is not the correct word to use if you're describing a piece of art drawn with a pencil/crayon/etc.  Drawing is the correct word.  There's no"L" people.....no "L"....got it!!
(enough said)
